Calgary Refugee Acceptance Rates

Here is the latest analysis of IRB member acceptance rates (for 2010), compiled by Sean Rehaag at Osgoode Hall.   

Acceptance rates for Calgary:

Luella Gaultier              : 49.62% (133 cases)

Bindu Narula                : 47.59% (145 cases)

Loretta Dobblestein      : 44.62%  (69 cases)

Preeti Adhopia            : 30.82% (159 cases)

Darcy Tkachuk            : 22.66%  (128 cases)

Nationally, the acceptance rate for 2010 was 48.58 per cent, whereas for unrepresented claimants it was 11.79 per cent.  Even allowing for all the usual variables, that is a startling difference. Unfortunately, a claimant is at a serious disadvantage when he or she walks into the hearing room and learns the identity of his Presiding Member.
